For hunters in Monster Hunter Wilds, Ancient Wyvern Coins might seem pointless, but they’re actually quite valuable to other residents of the Forbidden Lands. It’s all about perspective—what’s useless to one can be a gem to another. With the right approach, you can trade these coins for some really useful gear.

This guide highlights some popular spots where players can snag Ancient Wyvern Coins. They’re not as tricky to locate as Genesis Opals, but they can still be a bit tough to track down if you’re not sure where to look.

Where to Find Ancient Wyvern Coins in Monster Hunter Wilds

You can find Ancient Wyvern Coins scattered across different regions. They have a bright gold glow and a beam of light shooting up, so they’re tough to miss, even in thick foliage. Just running around hoping to find one isn’t the best farming approach, but luckily, there’s a more straightforward way to collect these coins.

You can earn Ancient Wyvern Coins by either killing or capturing Curioshell Crabs. These small critters are found in specific areas across multiple zones. If you use your Capture Net, the same one for Vigorwasps and other tiny creatures, you could snag an ancient coin from them.

Curioshell Crab Location – Scarlet Forest

If you’re looking for a Curioshell Crab, head to the fishing area at the Area 8 campsite in the Scarlet Forest, which is tucked away behind the waterfall. Check out the little ledge behind the tent where the Wudwud angler often catches fish, and keep an eye on the ground for the Curioshell Crab.

Another option is to visit the Flowering Rocks pop-up camp site located in Area 6 of the Scarlet Forest. You’ll find a Curioshell Crab chilling by the Flowferns. Don’t forget to dive into the nearby water pool to collect some algae. This will give you Gobletweed, which is essential for the next method we’ll discuss.

Curioshell Crab Location – Windward Plains

If you’re on the hunt for another Curioshell Crab, head to the underground campsite located beneath the oasis in Windward Plains, Area 14. Fast travel to the camp, exit to the left of the tent, and take a look to your left. You should spot the Curioshell Crab chilling between the two Wylky Gemstone gathering points.

[note type=”tip”]If you can’t find a crab in any of those spots, just teleport to another area and then return. Switch it up between two crab spawn points to make the most of your time.[/note]

Trade with Rove

You can find Rove at the Iceshard Cliffs, where you can trade Gobletweed or Chaliceweed for some extra Ancient Wyvern Coins. His requests change every so often, so it’s smart to check in with him regularly to see what he needs. Rove also sells food ingredients and monster parts for crafting your gear.

What To Do With Ancient Wyvern Coins in Monster Hunter Wilds

You can trade your Ancient Wyvern Coins for materials by stopping by Gawdygog in the Wudwud Hideout in the Scarlet Forest. He’ll gladly exchange your coins for items such as Armor Spheres, Melding Tickets, and Sinister Cloth, a key ingredient for the Death Stench armor set.
